Discovery 1 biggest tire size: stock and lifted
The biggest tire owners run on a Land Rover Discovery Series I at every lift height, with the trimming it takes, the wheel specs you need and the lift kits that get you there.
Factory sizes were 205R16 and 235/70R16, which are almost the same height. On a stock-height, stock-geared truck, a LandyZone owner recommends going no bigger than 245/75R16 (about 30.5 inches), which several members run. Owners do run 33s and bigger with lifts; one member says 35s want at least a 4.1 and ideally a 4.37 ring and pinion.
Biggest Discovery 1 tire at every lift
| LIFT | BIGGEST TIRE | WHAT IT TAKES |
|---|---|---|
| Stock | 245/75R16 (≈30.5 in) | LandyZone owners recommend going no bigger on a stock-height, stock-geared truck. The factory 205/80 and 235/70 are almost the same height. |
| 2 in | 33 in | Owners run 33s on lifted trucks. Fit longer springs and extended shocks and lower the bump stops so the body isn't hit at full compression; one owner going from 31 to 33 in still planned a 4.1 ring-and-pinion to restore gearing. |
| 3 in+ | 35 in | Needs offset wheels to keep a usable turning circle, caster-corrected arms and wide-angle props on bigger lifts, and at least a 4.1 (ideally 4.37) ring-and-pinion. |

Springs sag after 25-plus years. Longer springs and shocks restore height and add room for 245/75s or 33s.
Fitment comes from owners and specialists; wheel width, offset, trimming and bump stops change what fits. Check clearance at full lock and full flex before you buy. Some links are affiliate links.
