4th Gen 4Runner biggest tire size: stock and lifted

The biggest tire owners run on a Toyota 4Runner 4th Gen at every lift height, with the trimming it takes, the wheel specs you need and the lift kits that get you there.

The short answer

265/70R17 (about 31.6 in) is the size the GX 470 community — same chassis and fitment — says fits with no modification, and owners on both platforms report no rubbing on factory wheels. 255/75R17 may need a front fender-liner bolt repositioned. 285/70R17 (about 33 in) needs a body-mount chop and fender-liner work even with a small lift.
