Caster correction after a lift

DIFFICULTY 3 / 5TIME ≈ Half a day (bushes) to a full day (arms)COST Parts plus labor

Symptoms

Light, wandering steering that won't self-centre after a suspension lift.

The fix, step by step

  1. Lifting a radius-arm front axle rotates it and reduces caster.
  2. One owner with a nominal 2 in kit (closer to 3 in in practice) fitted 2° caster-correction bushes and reported a clear improvement.
  3. Press the old radius-arm bushes out at the chassis end and press in offset bushes, set to add caster.
  4. For lifts of about 3 in or more, forum members also recommend an adjustable or longer panhard rod to re-centre the axle, drag-link changes and longer brake lines.
  5. Get a wheel alignment afterwards.
  6. Series 2-on wagons use a different front panhard rod from GQ and Series 1 trucks, so order for your build.
