Symptoms
The door drops when opened and has to be lifted to latch. Forum members call door hinges a common GQ problem; worn pins can be in either or both hinges.
The fix, step by step
- Support the door on a jack with a block of wood, or with a helper.
- Drive out the old hinge pin, then press out the worn bushes and fit new pins and bushes, one hinge at a time so the door stays aligned.
- If the hinge itself is worn or cracked, fit a genuine replacement hinge set and adjust the door gaps before tightening.
