Symptoms
Grease smeared on the inside of the wheel and around the swivel seal retainer.
The fix, step by step
- Remove the seal retaining ring (six 8 mm nuts on the Defender), clean the seal area, then turn the wheel to full lock away from the side you're filling so the housing doesn't overlap the ball, and fill through the filler plug.
- One pack per side is roughly right; the grease is runny.
