The fix, step by step
- Drain the coolant and remove the fan and shroud, drive belts, crank pulley and timing covers.
- Line up the timing marks, then replace the belt, tensioner pulley and hydraulic tensioner, plus the cam, crank and injection-pump seals.
- If you do the water pump at the same time, as HD Automotive recommends, fit a new gasket and refill with Toyota long-life coolant.
- Rotate the engine by hand twice and recheck the marks before you button it up.
