Symptoms

A squeak or rattle from the transmission with the clutch pedal up that goes away when you press the pedal (2007–2011 FJ six-speeds).

The fix, step by step

  1. T-SB-0365-10: remove the release cylinder and the transmission, then fit the updated release cylinder, fork support and release bearing, inspect the clutch cover and reinstall.
  2. Order the bearing that matches the maker stamped on the edge of the clutch cover: Aisin 31230-60241 or LuK 31230-60231.
  3. The bulletin lists FJ release cylinder 31470-60361 and fork support 31236-35050.
  4. With the gearbox out, it's the time to fit a new clutch if it's worn.
