Symptoms
Wander, wheel shake at highway speed, vague on-centre feel, clunks — amplified by tall tires and a rigid front axle.
The fix, step by step
- Replace the steering damper with an OEM or upgraded unit, check drag link and tie-rod ends for play, then align.
- The 4×4² keeps the G’s steering linkage, so the usual W463 diagnosis applies.
Tools & part numbers
- Steering damper
- sockets and wrenches
- tie-rod or drag-link ends if worn
