Seven-speed fluid & filter service

DIFFICULTY 3 / 5TIME ≈ 2–3 hoursCOST Parts plus labor

Symptoms

Harsh or slurred shifts, or simply no record of a service. The 7G-TRONIC has no dipstick, so fluid level is set by temperature.

The fix, step by step

  1. Drain the pan, replace the filter and pan gasket, refill with the Mercedes-approved fluid, then set the level at the specified temperature using a scan tool to read transmission temperature.

Tools & part numbers
