Nissan Patrol GQ (Y60) biggest tire size: stock and lifted

The biggest tire owners run on a Nissan Patrol Y60 (GQ) at every lift height, with the trimming it takes, the wheel specs you need and the lift kits that get you there.

The short answer

4X4 Australia says its 1988 GQ wore 31-inch all-terrains from the factory, and 31x10.50R15 or a similarly sized 16-inch tyre is the safe size on standard suspension. A 33 does fit 'into the GQ wheel arch, but only just', according to the Patrol 4x4 Club SA forum. On NissanPatrol.com.au, owners say 33x12.5s on zero-offset rims scrub the inner guards at full flex. The common recipe is a 2-inch lift with 33x12.5R15s on negative-offset wheels (owners quote -22 to -24 mm), which push the tyres out past the factory flares. Even then, expect some rub at full lock or full flex, often on the front mud-flap bracket.

LIFTBIGGEST TIREWHAT IT TAKES
2 in33x12.50R15 or 285/75R16NissanPatrol.com.au consensus: 'just about everyone with a 2" lifted GQ runs 33x12.5'. The front mud flaps (or their brackets) usually have to go, and 33x12.50s on -22 mm offset rims stick out past the factory flares. Narrower 33x10.50s avoid that. Expect some rubbing at full flex; some owners add radius-arm spacers.

Suspension Lift

A 2-inch coil lift is the standard GQ upgrade, and it's what makes 33s livable. Pair it with caster-correction bushes, longer brake lines and a rear proportioning-valve adjustment.

Fitment comes from owners and specialists; wheel width, offset, trimming and bump stops change what fits. Check clearance at full lock and full flex before you buy. Some links are affiliate links.
