Land Rover Series I, II & III biggest tire size: stock and lifted
The biggest tire owners run on a Land Rover Series I–III at every lift height, with the trimming it takes, the wheel specs you need and the lift kits that get you there.
235/85R16 is the size most owners recommend: a Rovers North forum member calls it close to, but a little wider than, the factory-optional 7.50x16, and it should fit a stock 88 or 109 once the steering stops are adjusted so the tyre clears the frame at full lock (expect a slightly bigger turning circle). 215/85R16 is also close to 7.50x16. 265/75R16 on stock 5.5-inch rims rubbed the frame by about half to three-quarters of an inch for one owner, and another found 265s too wide on a 109. Original rims are tube-type, so check the wheels before fitting tubeless radials.

Fitment comes from owners and specialists; wheel width, offset, trimming and bump stops change what fits. Check clearance at full lock and full flex before you buy. Some links are affiliate links.
