G63 AMG (W463) years to avoid, and the best years to buy
Every Mercedes-Benz G 63 AMG model year: which ones owners and specialists recommend, which have documented problems, which carry recalls, and what they sell for now.
There's no consensus best year, so buy on condition. 2016–2018 trucks have 563 hp, new dampers and recalibrated ESP and ABS, and they sell for roughly $15,000 more on Bring a Trailer. 2013–2015 trucks are the bargain. Handsome Motors says the M157 in the G 63 got timing-chain and head-bolt updates, and wants the cooling system and water pump inspected on any of them. Whichever year you buy, make sure the steering-coupling recall (17V250, 2013–2016) is done.

What a G63 AMG (W463) costs (October 2026)
Values are flat to soft. The truck's age and the M157's reputation keep prices well below a second-generation G 63, and mileage and service history set the price more than the year does.
| High mileage / needs work | $31k–45k |
|---|---|
| Driver | $48k–68k |
| Excellent / low miles, 2016–2018 | $75k–99k |
