G500 G-Wagon biggest tire size: stock and lifted
The biggest tire owners run on a Mercedes-Benz G 500 at every lift height, with the trimming it takes, the wheel specs you need and the lift kits that get you there.
A 275/70R18 — roughly a 33-inch tire — on the factory 18-inch wheels. Owners on Expedition Portal report it fits an unlifted G 500; one saw rubbing only on aftermarket ET63-offset wheels. A 285/65R18 can rub slightly at full left lock. Re-code the tire size with a Mercedes diagnostic tool so the speedometer and ESP stay accurate.
Biggest G500 G-Wagon tire at every lift
| LIFT | BIGGEST TIRE | WHAT IT TAKES |
|---|---|---|
| Stock | 275/70R18 (≈33 in) | Fits an unlifted G 500 on factory 18s per Expedition Portal owners; a 285/65R18 rubs slightly at full left lock, and an ET63 aftermarket wheel rubbed where ET43 G 550 wheels didn't. Re-code the tire size so the speedo and ESP agree. |
| 2–2.5 in | 33x11.00–33x12.50 (or metric equivalent) | JWO 2-in and Eurowise 60 mm springs are sold as 33-in setups; JWO says keep wheel offset at +30 or lower (about a 30 mm spacer on most stock wheels) and fit longer shocks. |
| 3 in | 35 in | GwagenParts' ~75 mm front kit claims room for 35s; spacers may be needed to stop rubbing, and the kit includes caster-correction bushings. |
| 4 in | 35x11.00–35x12.50 | JWO 4-in springs: offset no higher than +20 (typically a 50 mm spacer on stock wheels), caster-correction bushings required; adjustable panhard bars and a steering stabilizer recommended. Distronic likely won't work at this height. |
