Symptoms
Violent front-end shake after a bump, usually at 45–65 mph, that stops only when you slow right down.
The fix, step by step
- Start at the front track bar.
- With the Jeep on the ground, have a helper rock the steering wheel a quarter turn each way while you watch both track-bar ends and the bracket holes; any side-to-side movement is a fault.
- Then check the tie-rod ends, drag link, ball joints, control-arm bushings, wheel bearings and tire balance.
- Quadratec says a steering stabilizer rarely fixes the cause.
- Replace the worn part and re-torque the front-end hardware.
- Set toe-in by loosening the tie-rod sleeves and turning the tie rod until the front of the tires is about 1/16 inch (no more than 1/8 inch) closer than the rear.
- Center the wheel with the drag-link turnbuckle, then get a proper alignment.
