Symptoms
Tires wearing on the inner or outer edge, especially after new springs or a lift, and an alignment shop saying it's 'out of adjustment'.
The fix, step by step
- On a TTB Dana 44, camber is set by an offset bushing (sleeve) around the upper ball-joint stud.
- Bronco Graveyard describes the swap: remove the wheel, the cotter pin and the upper ball-joint nut, break the stud's taper free of the sleeve, pull the old sleeve with a sleeve puller and fit the new adjustable one.
- Adjustable sleeves cover 0.75 to 2.75 degrees, and any correction you don't need for camber can be turned into caster.
- Set both sides, torque the nuts, fit new cotter pins and have it aligned.
