Classic Defender 90/110 biggest tire size: stock and lifted

The biggest tire owners run on a Land Rover 90 / 110 / Defender at every lift height, with the trimming it takes, the wheel specs you need and the lift kits that get you there.

The short answer

235/85R16 is the classic factory size on 110s and the 'sweet spot' most owners recommend; NAS D90s came on 265/75R16. 255/85R16 (about 33") is the popular upgrade and generally fits at stock height, but owners report rubbing on the front radius arms at full lock (fix by winding out the steering stops), against the 45 L auxiliary tank on 110s, and close to the spring brackets at full compression on 90s.

Stock springs sag with age and accessories. Heavier springs and better shocks restore ride height and add an inch or two for 255/85 tyres.
