Replace shock absorbers

DIFFICULTY 2 / 5TIME ≈ 2–3 hoursCOST Parts plus labor

Symptoms

Bouncing after bumps, wallowing on the road, or leaking or rusted shocks. This is common on campers carrying more than the original spec.

The fix, step by step

  1. Support the chassis on stands, then unbolt and remove each shock, keeping track of spacers and bushings.
  2. Fit new shocks with new bushings.
  3. For a heavy camper, match the springs to the load too: Hellgeth makes 435-specific coils for heavy rear-axle loads.
